Things to do this Easter Weekend

Looking for things to do this weekend? While we are all staying at home, protecting the NHS and saving lives our Communications Team want to share with you some free activities that you can do without leaving the house. We are starting with an Easter special and will continue to share tips and activities every weekend.

We’re going on an Egg hunt

An Easter egg hunt is one tradition the family can still take part in at home. There are plenty of places to hide eggs or treats around the home or garden. Once hidden, get the family searching with baskets or bowls to collect their goodies. Families online have created a handy clue sheet that works for both inside and outside.

A free film eggs-travaganza

There are lots of films to enjoy on TV this Easter with family favourites like Paddington and Sing and classics like Indiana Jones. Why not make the experience extra special by preparing snacks like popcorn, snuggling up in blankets or inviting the children’s teddies and dolls to join in too!

Heart have shared a guide to the weekends best films.

The BBC will also be broadcasting their religious Easter programming across TV and radio, beginning on Good Friday.

Easy Easter bakes

Bake your own Easter treats to enjoy. You could even set up a picnic in your living room or garden, to make lunch feel a little different from the norm. BBC Good food has some great Easter bakes to have a go at. We particularly like the healthy bunny pancakes and Hot cross scones.

Whatever you decide to do over the weekend please stay at home, leaving only for:

  • essential food shopping
  • daily exercise
  • to get medical help
  • to go to work (but only if you cannot work from home)

If you go out, stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people at all times. Wash your hands as soon as you get home and do not meet others, even friends or family. You can spread the virus even if you don’t have symptoms.

If you’ve got any suggestions for great free activities please share them with us on our social media channels.
