Support and advice this festive season

The festive season is upon us, but for some people it can be a very difficult time.

Wellbeing

The NHS Every Mind Matters website has lots of information on looking after your wellbeing.

If you are worried about your mental health and need someone to talk to, the Samaritans can be contacted 7 days a week by telephoning 116 123.

Childline is a confidential line offering support for young people under 19 (and their relatives), offering advice about any topic. You can speak to a counsellor by calling 0800 1111.

If anyone is concerned about a rough sleeper please call StreetLink on 0300 500 0914.

Domestic Abuse helpline

If you know someone who is experiencing, or is at risk of abuse, there is help and support available.

There is a 24 hour National Domestic Abuse Helpline available on 0808 2000 247 which is a free and confidential service. This is run by the charity Refuge and the website also has useful information on abuse, rights, and advice on the support that is available.

For Wrekin customers, there are a number of websites containing useful information on our Domestic Abuse page.

If you are concerned about someone experiencing abuse, please call the helpline number.

Foodbanks

If you are struggling to buy essential food, the Trussell Trust website can be used to find your local foodbank. They can offer support and advice in obtaining emergency food for those in need.

Financial concerns

During this difficult time, you and your family may have financial concerns. If a change in income is affecting you it’s important to ask for help as soon as possible.

We have listed the questions we get asked frequently and our Money Matters team can be emailed at moneymatters@wrekin.com (From 4 Jan 2021).

Other free debt advice services, including StepChange, National Debt Line or Citizens Advice.
