Starts at home – Life at West Street

West Street is a four-bedroom bungalow in Stoke on Trent that provides personal care and accommodation for people with a learning disability.

Sandra has lived at West Street for several years and is proud to call it her home.

She said: “I really like it here. The staff are nice and they really look after me. The food is good and I enjoy all the activities. I really enjoy playing board games and taking part in arts and crafts. I haven’t got a bad word to say about it – it’s a lovely home.”

Support staff are on hand to offer Sandra and her housemates the care and support they need.

Marianne Kinsella, Support Worker at West Street said:

“We’re here to support our residents and meet their needs. We help them with everything from decision making, helping them manage their finances and ensuring everyone stays active.

“I really enjoy working here. We have a brilliant bunch of residents with different personalities and interests. Everyone has a really good sense of humour too. Everyone is really comfortable around each other and it has a real family feel.

“West Street is very much my second home and the residents here are my second family.”
