Art competition calls for some natural therapy

Are you a budding artist? If so, The Wrekin Housing Group is looking for people to get creative and contribute artwork to its 2022 calendar.

In the third year of this popular art competition, The Wrekin Housing Group are looking for artworks inspired by nature to create their next calendar and evoke the calming feelings of outdoor space and the natural world each month. 12 winning entries will see their works published in the 2022 calendar with the overall winner taking pride of place on the front cover.

The successful artworks will also be included in an exhibition planned for later this year.

Every year The Wrekin Housing Group produces a calendar for customers circulating around 15,000 copies. The calendar is immensely popular and for the last two years has featured the winning artworks from many local artists.

Kathryn Holmes, Marketing Executive for The Wrekin Housing Group says; “Spending time outdoors and observing nature is great for our wellbeing and many have found sanctuary in nature and outdoor spaces over the last few months; that’s why this year’s theme is nature’s therapy. We want people to think about nature or outside space that has given them comfort, reflect happy memories of a newly discovered local haven or take inspiration from their garden or its wildlife.”

The competition is open to all - whether you are a seasoned pro or looking to try something new. There are no restrictions on the type of artwork – we welcome everything from photography and painting to ceramics and crochet.

The artworks will be judged by a panel made up of representatives from The Wrekin Housing Group and its Tenants’ Panel.

Artists have until the end of August to get creative with their crayons or sew something superb and are asked to send a photograph in the first instance.
