Affordable properties for Stafford

Work has begun to build of 24 properties in Stafford, which will all be available for affordable rent.

The Wrekin Housing Trust, is behind the plan and has appointed contractor, Galliford Try Partnerships, to undertake the work at Valerian Drive. The properties being built will consist of 18 two-bed houses and six three-bedroom houses.

The land at Valerian Drive previously featured a number of bowling greens owned by Doxey Universal Sports and Social Club. As part of the development, a number of small out buildings and a pavilion will be demolished.

Steve Williams, project manager at The Wrekin Housing Trust, said: “We very excited about work beginning at the site as this project has been a number of years in the planning. Stafford, like many other places, has an urgent need for quality affordable homes and the Trust is committed to investing in the town.”

James Warrington, Regional Managing Director at Galliford Try Partnerships, added: “We are delighted to be working with The Wrekin Housing Trust to play our part in building much needed affordable homes for the local community in Stafford.”

The development is scheduled to be completed in May 2020.
