How we work

Like all housing associations we are run by a Board of management.

The Trust is part of The Wrekin Housing Group, which has a separate smaller Board. Our Trust Board has eleven members whose role it is to ensure the Trust is run to the highest standards and meets all regulatory, legal and financial requirements. In addition, the Board is responsible for setting and monitoring the strategic direction of the company.

The members of the Board are registered at Companies House as directors of the company and are also Charitable Trustees. They provide strategic direction and delegate the day to day running of the organisation to the Executive Management Group. The Board's aim is to ensure that we achieve our strategic objectives.

In September 2007 we were awarded a 'bright green light' for governance by the Housing Corporation in their annual assessment.

"The governing body gives effective leadership and control, has a wide range of skills and experience and, supported by appropriate governance and executive arrangements, is improving its own performance and that of the organisation"

The Board committed themselves to improving their performance by completing the actions in a governance improvement plan. Members have their own appraisal system, a training and development programme and some of them were the first in the country to achieve a qualification in governance awarded by the Institute of Leadership & Management.
