Win-win situation for Trust and tenant
05 August 2016
Geoff Mansell, who lives in a three-bedroom house adjacent to the Trust’s development on the site of the old Coddon Club in Trench, was finding it difficult to keep on top of work on his house and large garden.
After approaching and working with the Trust and developer Wonderful Homes he will now be moving into a smaller property on the Trust’s site, whilst selling his house and land to them to build more much-needed homes, a win-win situation for all parties as well as local residents who will see more brand new homes for rent built.
Mr Mansell, 74, who loves photography and walking, did up the garden of his house when he and his wife, Angela, moved in, and even won best town garden in Shropshire and North Wales. They had lived in the house for 37 years, however, since losing his wife, it has become too much for him to take care of, especially on top of his large house.
He said: “I’m so happy to be moving into a smaller two bedroom house as it is easier to look after. My priority as I get older is convenience. Dealing with The Wrekin Housing Trust has been a Godsend; everyone has been so friendly and easy to work with. I’m chuffed because I love the location and didn’t want to have to move away; now I’ll be right next door, still able to use the bus stop over the road and close to family and friends, perfect!”
The Coddon Club site is in a great location on the Trench Road, close to all amenities such as supermarkets, doctors and dentists. Phase 1 will be completed shortly, providing 29 homes, which have all been allocated off-plan.
Demolition of Mr Mansell’s house will take place in September, as which point Geoff will have been able to move to his brand new home. Phase 2 will provide an extra eight one, two and three bedroom houses.
