Repairs and maintenance
Looking after your home is a two-way responsibility. We’re responsible for most, but not all, of the repairs.
The ‘Repairs and maintenance’ leaflet gives details of who is responsible for what, but it is your responsibility to:
- take care of your home
- report any repairs as soon as possible
- repair anything that you’re responsible for
- make sure that no one else damages your home
Sometimes we may charge you for carrying out repairs.
This will be either:
- when we carry out work that is your responsibility, for example, changing the locks when you lose your keys.
- when we carry out additional services at an extra cost, for example, erecting new fencing.
You’ll usually get a bill after the work has been carried out, but we’ll try to tell you approximately how much it will cost before we start. Sometimes we may ask for payment before doing the work.
Feedback
We want to provide an efficient repairs service and are keen to know what you think about it. We telephone a sample of tenants who have had repairs done to find out what they think. If you’re contacted, we’d be grateful if you could spare a couple of minutes to tell us how you found the service you received.
Usually our own workforce will repair your home, but some work is done by specialist contractors on our behalf.
Don’t forget to check identity (ID) before letting strangers into your home!
