Reporting a gas leak
Do Not…
attempt to fit a gas appliance yourself, it is illegal and could seriously harm yourself and others around you.
use a gas appliance if you notice a yellow or orange flame (except flame effect fires which display this colour flame) or if you notice soot or stains around the appliance.
cover the appliance or block the air vents
block or obstruct any fixed ventilation grilles or air bricks
block or cover outside flues
paint or alter the appearance of your gas appliance in particular your fire and surround. If you do this you are breaking gas regulations and would mean that we would have to replace the appliance for which you will be charged.
remove the surround or gas fire without written permission from your local Housing officer
allow any person to tamper with the fire and surround
Do…
allow the Gas Engineer access to your home to complete the safety check and service
keep ventilation clear and unobstructed
keep your copy of the Gas Safety and Service record
check the identification of the engineer calling to your property, remember all our engineers carry
Gas Safe
identification cards and will show these to you on arrival.
contact the Gas Team if you have any queries in relation to your gas appliances and safety checks
