Waste management - case studies
Figures have shown the construction, demolition and excavation industries generate more waste in England than any other industry. In response, the Government's Waste Strategy for England 2007 identified that there was plenty of potential to increase efficiency in construction and so reduce waste.
As part of this industry, we recognise the need to play our part in reducing waste.
Every year we carry out a considerable major refurbishment programme, and in the past this has produced a significant amount of waste. However, we now work closely with our contractors to minimise the impact of these works by ensuring that we re-use materials where possible, which reduces waste, or recycle as many materials as possible so they can be re-used in other processes. This reduces the amount of waste we produce that would otherwise have to go to landfill, and makes sure that we meet and in many cases, exceed current waste regulations.
Here are three case studies which detail the way we are working with suppliers to reduce waste and recycle more:

RE Brown - waste management
