Village Way, Oakengates, TF2 PTL
Walton Court is located within the Oakengates area of Telford and has 53 self-contained properties consisting of:
- a mix of 12, one or two-bedroom flats
- a mix of 27, one or two-bedroom flats with internal entrance
- a mix of 14, one or two-bedroom bungalows
All flats with internal entrances have a videophone door entry system, which lets tenants view and speak to visitors, and open the door without having to leave their flat.
Lift
The internal first floor flats are accessible by a lift, which is large enough to accommodate wheelchairs and mobility scooters. There are also stairlifts to enable tenants can get to all areas within the scheme.

Guest bedroom
Walton Court has two guest bedrooms where relatives or friends can stay overnight when visiting. The guest bedrooms can be booked for a small charge and for a maximum of two weeks, although exceptions can be made in certain circumstances.
Guest bedroom one is a self-contained flat, with two single beds and a kitchenette.
Guest bedroom two has a single bed with en-suite facilities
Communal Garden
There are open plan landscaped areas around the sheltered scheme which are maintained by the Wrekin Housing Trust's Grounds Maintenance Team.
Mobility scooter - Landlords permission
We recognise that use of mobility scooters can improve independence. However for fire safety reasons, where the property type is a flat, the landlord's permission must be sought and granted before purchasing a scooter.
Pets
Tenants living in a flat with an internal entrance are not allowed to keep cats and dogs, unless it is a service dog - a service dog is a type of assistance dog specifically trained to help people who have a disability including visual or hearing impairment.
Tenants are allowed to keep pets such as a fish or small caged bird.

Walton Court is situated within the Oakengates District Centre and is in walking distance for tenants who have full mobility.

There is a regular bus service to Telford Town Centre and Wellington
A visiting mobile library service is available at Walton Court every 2nd Tuesday at 1pm.
Scheme Manager
The Scheme Manager role is to:
- Offer support and guidance to enable independent living.
- Complete support plans to assess individual needs
- Organise and facilitate social activities on and off the sheltered housing scheme.
- Provide "The Trust on your doorstep" to help with housing matters.
Fire Safety
All sheltered housing properties are fitted with a smoke detection system, which is linked to the emergency alarm and would automatically trigger an alarm call to the visiting Scheme Manager when on duty or go through to the 24 hours emergency alarm call receiving centre.
It is recommended that tenants test the smoke alarm monthly basis.
The tenant's fire safety leaflet is available and will be issued to each tenant during the sign up process.
