RE Brown waste management
Established in 1981, RE Brown is a family run Shropshire business with a sound reputation for quality and integrity. The company carries out the repointing of walls and chimneys, as well as repairs to brickwork for us as part of the Decent Homes programme. The company is working closely with us to ensure minimal waste generation on and off site. Here's how they are contributing.
Waste generated from this type of works includes:
- Existing mortar and brick rubble
- Excess mortar from new re-pointing
- Sand and cement bags
- Brick cleaner containers
RE Brown is proud of the fact that 100% of its waste is taken to a central processing point within Shropshire ensuring the maximum amount of waste is being reused or recycled
The sand and cement bags together with the brick cleaner containers are separated on site and taken for recycling. Waste from the repointing works is also segregated and thanks to our policy to get contractors working together where possible, RE Brown has for the last twelve months been sharing rubble and mortar collection facilities with other contractors on site.
A good example of this is reroofing works carried out by Danescourt. These works are often accompanied by chimney repointing and RE Brown has been able to utilise Danescourt's recycling procedures. The result of this co-operation means both companies can use one waste stream, taking less time, creating less paperwork, and more importantly keeping another vehicle off the road.
