08 July 2010
One of our apprentices has won one of this year's technology prizes at Shrewsbury College of Arts & Technology.
21 year old Jamie Lewis, a third year Trust apprentice studying for a Certificate in Electrotechnical 2330 part 2, Level 3 has been awarded the Electrical Third Year Apprentice Award for 2010.
The college has been holding an end-of-year awards ceremony for the last ten years, but this will be the first time a technology prize has been awarded.
Course tutor, Ray Titley said: "Jamie was chosen for his consistently high levels of achievement, commitment and positive personal attitude to all aspects of the course."
Tim Munro, HR Consultant at the Trust says, "This is fabulous news for both Jamie and the Trust. For Jamie it is deserved recognition for his hard work and commitment. For the Trust, it confirms we made the right decision to continue to employ apprentices and trainees despite the economic downturn, in order to safe-guard the quality service we promise our customers. Jamie is a technically competent employee who has shown he can excel at what he does. Ultimately, this is great news for our customers who can be confident of receiving a first class, right first time service, every time."
Jamie was awarded an engraved salver at the Awards ceremony on Wednesday 7th July at the Lord Hill Hotel in Shrewsbury.
The Trust has been working with together with the college for three and a half years, helping young people mix education with valuable work experience.
