Around 80 tenants of Shropshire's largest social landlord gathered for their fourth annual Tenants' Conference on the 23rd January.

Every tenant of The Wrekin Housing Trust was invited to the free event at the Trust's offices at Old Park last Saturday (23rd January).

Bob Floyd, Chair of the Trust, opened the conference by thanking tenants for their attendance and providing an overview of the Trust's
10 years making a positive difference to the community.

With a theme of 'Building Communities', the conference included talks and workshops with a community theme. Tenants heard from guest speakers including the Mayor of Telford, Crimestoppers and the Tenants' Panel.

As well as being specially organised by tenants for tenants, it was also a group of tenants who provided the conference entertainment. The Hazel Way Players, a group of ten sheltered scheme tenants who range in age from 63 to 75 years, performed a medley of songs to great applause.

The Trust's Resident Involvement manager, Jo Rowley, said: "The conference has been a great success for all involved. Tenant feedback is invaluable to the Trust. As an organisation, we undertake many initiatives to gain feedback including questionnaires, focus groups and tenant panels – but the conference provides an opportunity for those tenants who might not usually choose to get involved, to have their say"

Len Harley, Chair of the Trust's Tenants' Panel says "It's fantastic that we've had such a good turnout to the conference. It's a great opportunity for residents to get together and help shape the future of Trust services"
Chair of The Wrekin Housing Trust Bob Floyd thanked the Tenants' Panel for their hard work in organising another successful event and paid tribute to the work they do throughout the year: "The relationship between the Trust and the Panel is critical in driving forward excellent customer service."
