World's Biggest Coffee Morning

Employees and residents at The Wrekin Housing Trust have helped to raise almost £2,400 by taking part in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Over the last week, a number of 'World's Biggest Coffee Mornings' have been held across the Trust's sheltered housing schemes. Scheme residents have baked cakes and biscuits, organised raffles and tombolas and joined in with quizzes and competitions, such as 'guess the weight of the cake' all to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

At the Trust's Wellington and Donnington shops, and Old Park headquarters, coffee and cake mornings were held, and staff were asked to donate money to the worthwhile cause.

In total, the Trust raised £2,396.11 for the charity, which provides practical, medical, emotional and financial support to people living with cancer.

Carron Morrow, who organised the events at the Trust's Old Park offices, said: "We were really proud to support the World's Biggest Coffee morning and help to raise money for this good cause. Staff created a real 'stir' by baking cakes and selling them around the offices, which was a great success. A big thank you too to all our sheltered housing residents for taking part in fundraising for Macmillan."

Ciarán Devane, Chief Executive of Macmillan Cancer Support, said: "I'd like to say a massive thank you to staff and residents from The Wrekin Housing Trust for taking part in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning for Macmillan Cancer Support. By simply having a cup of coffee and making a donation they have helped us to improve the lives of more people affected by cancer."
