Trust staff pass new electrical qualifications
16 September 2008
Members of staff at The Wrekin Housing Trust, Shropshire's largest social landlord, have completed a City & Guilds wiring regulations course, in-line with the new electrical regulations that came into effect this year.
The seventeen employees, who all either have responsibilities for the safe installation of electrical equipment or work in areas which encompass electrical work, passed their 17th Edition Wiring Regulations exams.
The 17th Edition Wiring Regulations course, which is an industry standard qualification for the electrical trade, aims to provide delegates with an awareness of the main alterations and additions that have recently been made to the British Standard for electrical installation.
The course, delivered at the Trust's Old Park offices by Severn College, included topics such as the scope of the regulations, electrical safety, installation design and inspection and testing.
Kevin Smith, course tutor at Severn College, said: "We tailored the course to meet the needs of the housing trust and to fit the type of electrical work encountered in social housing. I was very impressed by the knowledge and experience of the staff on the course and very pleased with the great results achieved."
