Park Lane reassurance
10 July 2008
The Wrekin Housing Trust is keen to reassure the local community that work will continue at the Park Lane Extra Care scheme in Woodside, despite the contractor going into receivership.
The £9m, 53 bedroom Extra Care Scheme was being designed and built by Chase Norton, who announced they had gone into receivership on Friday last week.
While arrangements are being made to appoint another contractor and move the project forward, the Trust is ensuring full, 24-hour security on the site.
George Rushgrove, Director of Business Development at The Wrekin Housing Trust, said: "The Trust was disappointed to hear that Chase Norton had gone into receivership, and the loss of jobs caused as a result.
"Nevertheless, as the Park Lane Extra Care scheme is a major project in Woodside, the Trust is actively pursuing other options to move the work forward. We have received a lot of interest from other builders and contractors with a view to taking on the project and completing the work."
He continued: "Inevitably, there will be a slight delay to the completion of the project, however both the Trust and Telford & Wrekin Council are keen to see the project delivered as soon as possible."
