Residents got together for a glass of wine and a buffet lunch to mark the twentieth anniversary of the sheltered housing scheme, which was officially opened on 6 May 1988 by the Rt. Hon. Nicholas Ridley MP, who at that time was Secretary for the Environment.

Francis Best, Director of Finance at The Wrekin Housing Trust, presented Mrs Anne Hughes, who had moved to Frizes Leasowe in 1990, just two years after it was opened, with a bouquet of flowers. Francis also had gifts for two of the other residents who had been at Frizes Leasowe the longest, Mr and Mrs Silk. As they were unable to attend the event, these were presented to Mrs Betty Bolam on their behalf.

Residents then also presented their scheme manager, Vanda Haycock, with a bunch of flowers to thank her for all her help in setting up the event.

Francis Best said: "Community spirit within sheltered housing is vitally important. The way that so many happy faces have marked Frizes Leasowe's twentieth anniversary shows how strong the feeling of community is here and it's clear to see how much everyone enjoys living at the scheme."

Vanda Haycock, scheme manager at Frizes Leasowe, added: "It's lovely to see everyone getting together to mark our special day. A big thank you to all the residents for helping to put on a wonderful afternoon to mark this important milestone."
