Tenants urged to use their vote
28 May 2008
The Wrekin Housing Trust is encouraging its tenants to use their vote in the 2008 Tenants' Panel elections.
Tenants in the East area, which covers Newport, Donnington, Oakengates and Ketley, can vote for the tenant that they want to represent them on the Tenants' Panel by completing and returning their ballot papers that have been sent to them.
The Tenants' Panel has an influence on the way the Trust is run, and assists communication between tenants and managers at the Trust. It enables Tenants' Panel Representatives to represent the views of tenants on how their homes are managed.
The Tenants' Panel is just one of the many ways The Wrekin Housing Trust is encouraging tenants to get involved in the management of their homes and enables tenants' views to be represented at all levels of the organisation.
Other initiatives include anything from tenants sitting on the management board and an innovative tenant auditor scheme, to the "Around the Wrekin" postal questionnaire consultation group and satisfaction questionnaires.
Jo Rowley, Resident Involvement Manager at the Trust, said, "The Tenants' Panel is vitally important as they influence decisions in many areas of the Trust. Taking part in the elections is a way for Trust tenants to have a say in what The Wrekin Housing Trust does and I would encourage everyone to return their forms as soon as possible."
All tenants in the East area have been sent an election pack, containing information about the candidates standing for election, along with a ballot paper and a freepost envelope, which should be returned by Monday 16 June.
If any tenant in the East has not received their election letters they should contact the Trust on 01952 217100.
