Keeping the focus on older people
09 May 2008
The Wrekin Housing Trust held its fifth Older Persons' Focus Group this week, to continue the Trust's commitment to excellent services for older people.
The event, which followed the success of previous focus groups, was held at the Trust's Old Park offices on Tuesday 6 May, and had a VE Day theme, giving it a street party feeling.
Residents from across the Trust's sheltered housing schemes in Newport and Telford got together to discuss the way that the Trust's services are delivered, and how they could be improved.
Topics for discussion included feedback from previous focus groups, and the Supported Housing Code of Practice. There was also an update on the progress of the Trust's new Park Lane Extra Care scheme in Woodside.
The afternoon was rounded off with group discussions about the different social activities available to sheltered housing residents.
Pamela Edwards, Supported Housing General Manager, said: "The Wrekin Housing Trust is committed to continuously improving the services we deliver to our older residents. By holding focus groups twice a year and inviting our service users along, we get a valuable insight into what they think of the services we provide, and what other things we should be doing."
Pamela added: "Previous focus groups have always been positive events and this week's was no exception. We were really pleased to see so many of our older residents come along and get involved. Feedback from the event will now be used to inform the way that services for older people are delivered across the Trust."
