Tenants move into Maddocks Court

17 April 2008

Tenants have celebrated after moving into The Wrekin Housing Trust's latest new development in Telford.

The first seven new town houses are now complete and tenants have been handed the keys to their new homes. Once fully complete, the development at Maddocks Court in Wellington will provide fourteen new two and three bedroom houses for rent.

The homes were advertised on the Trust's choice based letting system 'chooseyourhome' and proved very popular with prospective tenants.
Built on land that was previously unused at the rear on the existing Maddocks Court flats following thorough consultation with tenants, the new development provides better parking for existing tenants as well as improvements to landscaping, street lighting and fencing. The Trust worked with Birmingham-based construction firm the Rok Group to provide the new houses as part of its wide-ranging plan to provide more homes in the local area.

Tenants from the nearby flats were given the chance to look around the development shortly before to completion to see the transformation of the area first hand.

Resident Miss Wilde said: "I was very impressed with the nice brand new houses, and think that the new fencing that we're getting as part of the landscaping work will make a positive difference."

Mr and Mrs Driver were amongst the first new tenants preparing to move in to their new home. Mr Driver said: "We're so pleased to move from our old flat in Donnington into a brand new house. It's got everything we could want, from a garden for our son George to play in, to our own parking space. We're close to the local school and within walking distance of Wellington Town Centre. Our new home is light and modern and a pleasure to be in."

Councillor Rosemary Chapman, who also took the opportunity to have a look around the new development, liked what she saw. She said: "I have just been to look around Maddocks Court and I must say I am very impressed. I was particularly taken with the kitchen and bathroom, both of which were a very good size and well fitted out."
