Third Annual Conference for Tenants
18 January 2008
Tenants of The Wrekin Housing Trust are invited to come along to their third annual Tenants' Conference next month, entitled "Working to the Future".
The one-day conference, which is being held at the Trust's Old Park offices on Saturday 2 February between 9.30am and 4pm, is open to all Trust tenants.
The event, which is organised for tenants, by tenants, will begin with feedback from last year's conference, looking at the outcomes of workshops sessions which focused on issues such as antisocial behaviour, estate management services and the RESPECT agenda.
Tenants will have an opportunity to influence plans for the next five years, identify their priorities, discuss any issues that affect them and hear from other tenants who may have similar experiences or ideas.
Throughout the day there will be four workshop sessions focusing on home improvements, the new Disability Equality Scheme, combating financial exclusion and the role of resident Quality Inspectors.
The free event will also include guest speakers, lunch and refreshments.
Maura Charlton, Vice Chair of the Central Tenants' Panel, said: "I would like to encourage all tenants to take this opportunity to get involved and have a voice. Previous Tenants' Conferences have helped to shape the plans for future service delivery, including the introduction of repairs scheduling, something which was vitally important to tenants. The conference is a chance for tenants who don't normally get involved with the Trust to come along to Old Park and find out about some of the things the Trust has been doing, what the future plans are, and have some fun at the same time."
Jo Rowley, Resident Involvement Manager at the Trust, added: "This event is organised by tenants for tenants, as they are the best placed people to tell us where to prioritise service improvements, and what they would like to see happen in the future. Previous Tenants' Conferences have been great successes and are vital in helping the Trust to continuously improve our service delivery."
Places at the conference are limited, so will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Transport from local Trust shops and offices is also available, but must be pre-booked.
Registration forms are available from the local Trust shops and offices, or through the Central Tenants' Panel. For more information about the event, please contact the Tenants' Panel Office on 01952 217201, or Jo Rowley, Resident Involvement Manager on 01952 217194.
