Work progresses well on new town centre homes

Work on 10 brand new affordable homes in the centre of Whitchurch is progressing well, and on track to complete in September.

The site, which is a partnership between the Trust who will own and manage the homes, and Saxonby who are constructing them, is adjacent to Tesco and within walking distance of the town centre.

Progress on site

Windows are now in place and electrics, carpentry and plumbing are in progress on the 4 apartments and 6 houses. Neighbours and local residents have been extremely positive about the regeneration of the site and Saxonby have been rated for their work on the site and in the community by the Considerate Construction scheme, receiving a great score for their first review.

The development is being built on a patch of unused land so is a great use of space in the town to provide much-needed affordable housing.

Steve Swann, Development Manager for the Trust, said: "It's great to see this site getting closer to completion; it will provide some great homes in a very central location. Working with Saxonby, we've ensured that the site fits the communities' needs and we look forward to residents moving in later this year. "

The development at Bridgewater Street has a value to the economy of over £2.2 million, creating 23 jobs and an apprenticeship opportunity.
