Stafford residents move into new homes in time for Christmas

Eight excited families have been handed the keys to their brand new homes at Marston Road in Stafford, so they could move in just in time for Christmas.

The Wrekin Housing Trust has developed the homes as part of the award-winning Northfield Village, which won the award for Joint-Venture Development of the year at this years' Inside Housing Top 60 awards. The homes benefit from being on the same site as a host of amenities including a GP surgery and pharmacy and a community hub with bar, restaurant and café facilities.

Amy and Ivy with their new home for Christmas

One family who has moved into their new home just in time for Christmas are Amy and Ivy.

Amy said: "The flat where we lived before was much smaller, and a bit cramped. Our new house is perfect, and has lots of room for Ivy! We're really excited to spend Christmas in our new home."

David Williams, the Trust's Housing Services Executive for the Stafford area, said: "It's great to see the results of all the hard work that has gone into developing much needed affordable homes across Staffordshire. We would like to wish everyone in their new homes a very happy Christmas and New Year."

The new homes are a mixture of semi-detached and terraced two bedroom houses, and have been built to comply with Lifetime Home standards which includes providing storage space whilst allowing for future adaptability. In addition, the homes will have generated £3.7m to the economy, and created over 40 jobs including two apprenticeship opportunities.
