Retirement Living residents fundraise for dementia awareness

Hundreds of residents from across our Retirement Living schemes are celebrating Dementia Awareness Week by holding birthday parties on scheme to mark the Queen's 90th birthday and using the opportunity to raise money for the Age UK Diamond drop-in appeal.

All raffle prizes have been kindly donated by local supermarkets and monies raised will be donated to the Age UK Diamond drop-in appeal. These regular drop-in sessions offer advice, help and support to older people with dementia who may be lonely and socially isolated, and their carers, families and friends.

The Trust provides the facilities for the Diamond drop-in sessions at five of our 37 Retirement Living schemes, with four meetings across Telford and one in Shrewsbury. The volunteer team behind the drop-in sessions, a mix of Trust Retirement Living staff, residents and members of the public, scooped a deserved award win for their hard work at the Clinical Commissions Group (CCG) Care with Confidence awards last year.

Age UK also run Diamond drop-in sessions across Telford, Bridgnorth and Shrewsbury. For more information call 01743 233123.
